The following are updates to previously-reportedĀ itemsĀ and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Iowa
Sinclair’s KDSM-TV (Des Moines), which transmits in ATSC 3.0 (NextGen TV) format on RF channel 16, informed the FCC that it returned to full power of 1,000kW on July 3.
WVIK Classical translator W252EM/98.3 (Davenport) has completed the move of its antenna 30 meters higher at its existing tower site in Moline.
Michigan
The FCC granted a construction permit to Full Potential for a new station on 88.1 in Wells using 3kW/117m (class A). As previously reported, the FCC had initially identified Evangelistic Knights of Our Lady as the tentative selectee for a new station on the frequency but then switched to Full Potential after determining that Evangelistic Knights of Our Lady did not qualify as an established local applicant under the commission’s rules. The Evangelistic Knights of Our Lady application has now been formally dismissed.
Minnesota
Following up on a report here last week, West Central Minnesota Educational TV Corp. formally informed the FCC that KWCM-TV/10 (Appleton), KSMN (RF 20, Worthington), and K08QE-D (Fergus Falls) returned to the air on July 3.
Edge Spectrum requested tolling to extend the deadlines for KTCJ-LD (Minneapolis) and K44GH-D/K28PW-D (Alexandria) to return to the air until Feb. 1, 2024. The stations’ latest filings say American Tower is still working on facility modifications.
North Dakota
Edge Spectrum requested tolling to extend the deadline for K42IM-D/K35MM-D (Minot) to return to the air until Feb. 1, 2024. The station’s latest filing says the owner of the previous tower site no longer wants the station to transmit from that location and American Tower, which is managing construction, is still working on several steps at the new site, including municipal approval.
South Dakota
James River Broadcasting’s K296FI/107.1 (Pierre) reports that it went off the air June 28 due to technical difficulties.
Alpha Media’s KDLO-FM/96.9 (Watertown) requested an extension of special temporary authority to operate at reduced power from an alternate site following last December’s tower collapse. The station’s filing says “progress is being made on restoration of the failed tower.” Normally 100kW/479m, KDLO-FM is temporarily using 18.1kW/110m from a tower on the south side of Watertown.
Wisconsin
Edge Spectrum requested tolling to extend the deadline for W39CV-D/W35DM-D (Minocqua) to return to the air until Feb. 1, 2024. The station’s latest filing says American Tower is still working on facility modifications.
