The following are updates to previously-reported items and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Minnesota
We Have This Hope Christian Radio submitted a license to cover application indicating that new 500-Watt station KJCL/88.3 (Fergus Falls) has signed on.
The FCC granted Gray TV’s K30RA-D (Racine) a construction permit move its transmitter to Dexter with 1.3kW directional.
The FCC has approved Steven Linder’s sale of his shares in Bold Radio, licensee of KOLV/100.1 (Olivia-Willmar), to existing partners J. David Linder and Lynn Ketelsen. A related sale of Steven Linder’s Lakeland Broadcasting Co. to J. David Linder and Lynn Ketelsen’s Lakeland Media LLC remains pending.
Nebraska
The FCC granted a construction permit for Alpha Media’s K268DF/101.5 (Lincoln) to upgrade from 130 to 250 Watts. K268DF relays KFOR/1240.
The FCC also approved a modification to K209CF/89.7 (Kearney) to move to 90.1 as K211GG, reducing power slightly from 250 Watts to 205 Watts. K209CF was displaced by new station KYHK/89.5 (Kearney). Both KYHK and K209CF/K211GG are owned by Bible Broadcasting Network, which has a pending deal to sell the translator to and another in Scottsbluff to CSN International.
North Dakota
The University of Northwestern-St. Paul’s K295BR/106.9 (Dickinson) went off the air Sept. 18 due to transmitter failure. K295BR had relayed co-owned KSLS/90.7 (Dickinson).
South Dakota
The FCC granted Jill Bisson’s K263AW/100.5 (Pierre) a construction permit to move from its current tower site west of Pierre to a tower south of Pierre. It will remain 250 Watts and continue to relay James River Broadcasting’s KPLO-FM/94.5 (Reliance).
Wisconsin
Civic Media’s W224EG/92.7 (Madison) submitted a license to cover application indicating it has completed a switch to a new antenna improving coverage of De Forest while maintaining coverage of Madison. It continues to transmit with 250 Watts from a tower near Sun Prairie, relaying WMDX/1580 (Columbus).
Civic Media’s WVXN/1520 (New Holstein) reports that it returned to the air on Sept. 19.
Civic Media’s recently-acquired WPFP/980 (Park Falls) reported that it is operating at 500 Watts during the daytime, rather than its licensed 1kW, due to an antenna issue. The station’s reduced power notification states that it anticipates repairs will be made within 30 days.
