Weekly Log: New Anchor in Madison, Two Radio Departures

Posted on July 5, 2024July 3, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Kyreon Lee has joined Morgan Murphy Media CBS affiliate WISC-TV/3 (Madison) as morning co-anchor.

Meteorlogist Audrey Leigh has departed Gray CBS affiliate WSAW/7 (Wausau).

As first noted by RadioInsight, Brook Stephens announced that she is no longer with Leighton Enterprises’ KZPK/98.9 (Paynesville-St. Cloud) due to budget cuts. Stephens had also been voice-tracking for Leighton stations in Fergus Falls and Grand Forks.

RadioInsight also reports that Peter Thiele is no longer with iHeartMedia’s Des Moines group, where he had been director of WHO/1040 and KXNO AM-FM 1460/106.3.

Former WTMJ/620 (Milwaukee) host Robert Romant, who used the professional name Robb Edwards, has died at 79. Edwards was also a public address announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Minnesota Public Radio’s station alerts page says KCRB/88.5 and KNBJ/91.3 (Bemidj) will be on a backup antenna, and possibly off the air completely at times, between July 9 and 20 for an antenna replacement project. The page also says WGGL/91.1 (Houghton, MI) will be off the air during daylight hours for tower work, which is expected to begin July 5 and continue for a couple of weeks.

The Star Tribune profiled longtime KMOJ/89.9 (Minneapolis) host Walter “Q Bear” Banks, who says he still gets to pick some of the music played during his shift.

Longtime WCCO-TV/4 (Minneapolis) photographer Dave Chaney has retired after 46 years at the station.
