Driving long distances can be necessary to reach many of our country’s scenic corners. Solo driving for 750 miles or more in one day can actually be enjoyable if you follow some rules!

There are some rest areas so spectacular that you’ll want to set aside time to enjoy them on your roadtrip journey!

Visiting the Redwoods and the Oregon Coast can be somewhat of a challenge because the region is divided into dozens of state and federal park units. But as usual, I found the journey to be worth the effort.

A journey brought me to four volcanic national parks in one week, including two days of staring at one of the most spectacular lakes I’ve ever seen.
