The following are updates to stories previously reported here and smaller recent FCC filings and actions that do not merit a full story of their own at this time:
Illinois
Both of the full-power commercial TV station in the Quincy-Hannibal-Keokuk market want to move to UHF frequencies. The FCC issued a notice of proposed rulemaking about a proposal from Quincy Media NBC/FOX affiliate WGEM-TV/10 (Quincy) to move to RF channel 19 with 1,000kW. Meanwhile, the FCC issued a report and order approving a plan by Sinclair CBS/ABC affiliate KHQA/7 (Hannibal) to move to RF channel 22 with 975kW.
Iowa
The FCC issued a report and order approving a plan by Gray TV ABC affiliate KCRG-TV/9 (Cedar Rapids) to move to RF channel 32 with 1,000kW. The station will still have to go through the formality of applying for and receiving a construction permit before it makes the change.
The FCC approved extensions to Edge Spectrum’s construction permits for new low-power TV stations K22LJ-D (Mason City), K27MI-D (Mason City), K35PA-D (Mason City), and K31PP-D (Sioux City). The new deadlines are Jan. 10, 2022.
Minnesota
The FCC approved extensions to Edge Spectrum and Spectrum Evolution’s construction permits for new low-power TV stations K19MS-D (Alexandria), K29NY-D (Alexandria), K20OP-D (Duluth), K28JQ-D (Duluth), K31LN-D (Rochester), K19IT-D (St. Charles), K27KL-D (St. Charles), K29JH-D (St. Charles), K31KX-D (St. Charles), K15IS-D (Willmar), K24JA-D (Winona), and K25LC-D (Winona). The new deadlines are Jan. 10, 2022. Meanwhile, Spectrum Evolution withdrew its request for an extension for K41MP-D (Rochester), which would have to seek a move to a new channel due to the discontinuation of channels 38 and up but says no in-core channel has been found.
Nebraska
The FCC approved extensions to Edge Spectrum and Spectrum Evolution’s construction permits for new low-power TV stations K16NO-D (Beatrice), K14SY-D (Columbus), and K36MO-D (Lincoln). The new deadlines are Jan. 10, 2022.
Bible Broadcasting Network’s K208CK/89.5 (Scottsbluff) applied to increase from 170 to 250 Watts.
North Dakota
Major Market Broadcasting closed on its purchase of future low-power TV stations K22OG-D (Fargo), K25LY-D (Fargo), K23MB-D (Minot), and K27LX-D (Minot) from DTV America/HC2 Broadcasting.
The FCC approved extensions to Edge Spectrum and Spectrum Evolution’s construction permits for new low-power TV stations K34LO-D (Bismarck), K09AAC-D (Fargo), and K10RQ-D (Fargo). The new deadlines are Jan. 10, 2022.
South Dakota
The FCC approved the sale of K233BN/94.5 (Aberdeen) from VCY America to Prairie Winds Broadcasting. A filing indicates Prairie Winds plans to use the translator to relay programming from KSDN-FM/94.1 or an HD subchannel.
The FCC approved an extension to Edge Spectrum’s construction permit for new low-power TV station K22KD-D (Sioux Falls). The new deadline is Jan. 10, 2022.
Wisconsin
Good Karma Broadcasting informed the FCC that new FM translator W266DR/101.1 (Waukesha) is on the air, operating under program test authority. The translator was granted during the AM revitalization window to relay WAUK/540 (Jackson-Milwaukee), which carries ESPN Radio in tandem with WKTI/94.5 (Milwaukee). W266DR transmits with 250 Watts from a tower in New Berlin, providing a strong signal to Waukesha and some southwestern Milwaukee suburbs.
Good Karma Broadcasting closed on its purchase of WGKB/1510 (Waukesha) and W269DL/101.7 (Milwaukee) on April 30.
Saga Broadcasting’s WJYI/1340 (Milwaukee) changed its callsign to WJOI on April 29 as a result of a callsign swap with a Saga station in Norfolk, VA.
Magnum Communications’ K250AZ/97.9 (La Crosse) completed its upgrade from 28 to 250 Watts.
“K-Love” station WLCW/100.1 (West Salem-La Crosse) is transmitting at an unknown reduced power after an unspecified equipment failure on May 11. Owner Educational Media Foundation tells the FCC that replacement parts have been ordered and are expected to arrive sometime after July 30. WLCW is licensed for 3.6kW/130m (class A).

Gray TV closed on its purchases of future low-power TV stations W14ER-D (Eau Claire), W33DH-D (Eau Claire), and W31EV-D (Wausau) from DTV America.

The new deadlines are Jan. 10, 2022. Meanwhile, Spectrum Evolution withdrew its requests for extensions for W46EQ-D (Augusta), W45DM-D (La Crosse), and W46EP-D (La Crosse), which would have to seek moves to new channels due to the discontinuation of channels 38 and up. The filings say no in-core channels have been found.
