A pair of AM radio stations with FM translators along the North Dakota-South Dakota border is being sold to a company co-owned by a worker at one of the stations.
An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates RADD Media, LLC will pay Schweitzer Media $265,000 for KNDC/1490 (Hettinger, ND) and Media Associates $370,000 for KBJM/1400 (Lemmon, SD) for a total of $635,000. Both companies are headed by Schweitzer.
The deal includes KNDC translator K294DG/106.7 (Hettinger) and KBJM translator K285HH/104.9 (Lemmon).
RADD Media is owned by Danielle Dauwen and Adam Dauwen; Danielle is KBJM’s office manager. They have no other broadcast interests.
Both stations run full-service music formats mixing Classic Hits and Country. Programming includes local, state, and national news, ag markets, and sports play-by-play.
KBJM is the only strong radio signal in the immediate Lemmon area, while KNDC has one commercial competitor.
An updated filing submitted June 26 indicates that the deal includes a non-compete agreement for Schweitzer running until April 1, 2029.
This item was originally posted April 11 and was updated June 27 to reflect an updated FCC filing indicating that KBJM will be purchased from Media Associates.
