Weekly Log: Milwaukee’s “Game” Drops Four, Changes Lineup

Posted on October 10, 2025October 9, 2025 by Jon Ellis

Four people are out at “97-3 The Game” (WRNW Milwaukee): The iHeartMedia station has dropped morning team Steve Czaban and Brian Butch and announcers also said on-air that Tim Scott and Matt Schneidman are “no longer here.” RadioInsight reports this comes amid a new round of national cuts at iHeartMedia. The “BS Show” with Bill Schmid and Armen Saryan has moved from middays to morning drive, replaced in middays with Doug Russell and Nick Bruesewitz. This comes just over a month after the station dropped Mike Heller’s midday show. The Drew & K.B. afternoon show remains unchanged. The daytime lineup of “The Game” is also syndicated statewide.

Following the previously-announced switch of W262CJ/100.3 (Milwaukee) to rebroadcast WAUK/540 (Jackson-Milwaukee), which happened Oct. 6, Civic Media has launched a new morning show on the stations. “All News All Morning” is hosted by Dan Hanni and runs on a 20-minute wheel. WAUK carries Civic’s statewide News/Talk network the rest of the day and is also relayed on W266DR/101.1 (Waukesha).

Chris Carr, Sam Sansevere, and “Dubs” Michael Wilczynski of “K102” (KEEY-FM St. Paul-Minneapolis) have won this year’s CMA Award for Major Market Broadcast Personality of the Year. Ben Butler and Arnie Andrews of “COW 97” (WCOW Sparta-La Crosse) are the winners for Small Market Broadcast Personality of the Year.

Minnesota Public Radio announced that host Angela Davis has been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and is taking a leave of absence to focus on her health. Other hosts and repeats are airing in the 9 a.m. hour on MPR News.

Assistant news director Mareah Ruefer and operations supervisor Jacob Ruefer have departed Gray NBC affiliate WMTV/15 (Madison) as Mareah moves to a new job as news director at Gray NBC affiliate KWQC/6 (Davenport).

Megan Zemple has moved from Gray NBC affiliate KTTC/10 (Rochester) to Allen Media CBS affiliate KIMT/3 (Mason City-Rochester), where she now anchors mornings. Former KIMT morning anchor Ryan Juntti has moved to the 4 and 5 p.m. newscasts.

Sports reporter Jeff Dubrof has announced his departure from Hearst CBS affiliate KCCI/8 (Des Moines) for a new job in Florida.

Reporter Ryan Hayes has departed Gray NBC/CBS affiliate KBJR/6 (Superior-Duluth) for an anchor/reporter job in Florida.

Wisconsin radio and TV veteran Roger Mann has died at 84 after a battle with cancer. His obituary states Mann began his journalism career in radio with stops at WTMJ, WEMP, and WISN in Milwaukee before moving to an anchor role at WKOW-TV in Madison. He later worked as news director and at stations elsewhere in the country.

Iowa’s Cedar Falls Utilities announced that it will shut down its cable TV system one year from now. The provider’s announcement notes the growth of streaming as a competitor and rising fees to carry cable channels. The public utility competes with Mediacom.

The Star Tribune’s Myron Medcalf reported on the importance of KMOJ/89.9 (Minneapolis) in the Black community as the station works to raise $17 million to move to a new studio location.

The Star Tribune also reported on the pressure TV journalists face when it comes to their appearance and how the culture has evolved.

Weigel’s new WEST network has launched with affiliates including WYTU-LD/63.3 (Milwaukee), WMEI/31.4 (Shawano-Green Bay), and KDIT-CD/45.5 (Des Moines).

Allen Media NBC affiliate KWWL/7 (Waterloo) announced that it was unable to present 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts on Wednesday, Oct. 8, due to computer problems.

Coastal TV FOX affiliate KQDS-TV/21 (Duluth) has updated the backdrop to its news set, which might not be newsworthy except that it had been in place since the station’s first newscast 18 years ago. The set, which your reporter helped carry into the studio, had seen virtually no other change since 2007 other than the addition of a monitor.
