Weekly Log: KDWB Shuffles Lineup; CHU Shutdown; Murrow Winners

Posted on May 29, 2026May 29, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Following the retirement of Dave Ryan, iHeartMedia’s KDWB/101.3 (Richfield-Minneapolis) has moved Falen Bonsett and Colt Parkey from afternoons to mornings, with producer Jenny Luttenberger continuing on the morning show. Meanwhile, former morning co-host Vont Leak has taken over the afternoon shift. Former morning co-host Bailey Hess said she was let go as part of the changes.

Sinclair has named Kevin Beard the vice president and general manager of CBS/FOX affiliate KGAN/2 (Cedar Rapids).

Gray NBC/FOX affiliate WLUC/6 (Marquette) has named Dave Ellis news director.

Meanwhile, anchor Mandy Koskela has announced her departure from WLUC for a new job at a Gray station in Arizona.

Meteorologist Owen Basselman announced his departure from Gray NBC affiliate KTIV/4 (Sioux City).

Forum’s St. Cloud Live profiled Al Neff of “The Goat” (WXYG/540 Sauk Rapids-St. Cloud) and also looked at the station’s unique format.

Following its shutdown of Weatheradio earlier this year, the Canadian government has now announced plans to shut down shortwave time signal station CHU on June 22. The English-French dual-language service airs on 3330, 7850, and 14670 KHz. The Canadian government is advising people to use other services such as its web clock or telephone time. CHU can also be heard in much of the U.S.; Canadian listeners may also be able to hear U.S. time signal station WWV on 2500, 5000, 10000, 15000, and 20000 KHz.

Winners of 2026 Regional RTDNA Murrow Awards for overall excellence include Scripps’ WTMJ-TV/4 (Milwaukee), Morgan Murphy Media’s WISC-TV/3 (Madison), Hearst’s KCCI/8 (Des Moines), Minnesota Public Radio News, and iHeart’s WHO/1040 (Des Moines). Best newscast winners include Heart’s WISN-TV/12 (Milwaukee), PBS Wisconsin‘s “Here & Now,” Audacy’s WCCO/830 (Minneapolis), and iHeart’s WHO/1040 (Des Moines).
