Christensen Family Buys Another Southwestern Minnesota Station

Posted on October 8, 2026October 8, 2026 by Jon Ellis

The Christensen family is adding another southwestern Minnesota radio station with the purchase of KLQP/92.1 (Madison).

KLQP announced on its Facebook page on Oct. 2 that it is now part of Christensen Broadcasting. A subsequent FCC filing stated that the buyer began operating the station on Oct. 1 under a local marketing agreement.

According to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC on Oct. 7, Christensen Broadcasting MAD LLC will buy KLQP from Kerri Boyens’ Adventures on the Air LLC for $200,000.

Christensen Broadcasting MAD LLC is owned by Collin Christensen (40%), Carmen Christensen (40%), Emily Christensen (10%), and Maya Christensen (10%).

The family, which has long owned stations in Pipestone, began its expansion late last year with the purchase of stations in Luverne, Minn., and Madison, S.D. A different licensee name and ownership structure is used for each market.

KLQP had run as a standalone station since it signed on in 1983, serving an area with no other strong commercial FM signals. Original co-owner Maynard Meyer sold KLQP to Adventures on the Air in 2024; Meyer continues to work at the station.

KLQP’s coverage area is north of the Christensen family’s other operations and does not overlap with the city-grade signals of any of the family’s other stations.
