Several stations filed requests for special temporary authority with the FCC in November to say that they’re either off the air or using reduced power:
Fresh Air’s K294AM/106.7 (West St. Paul) is again off the air as work continues on the city water tower that serves as its licensed transmission site.
The translator relays Fresh Air Radio from KFAI/90.3 (Minneapolis) and normally uses 170 Watts. It had left the air last year and returned over the summer from a temporary structure near the water tower with 90 Watts. It now tells FCC that it’s been asked to leave the temporary site as well, and it plans to shut down the facility by Dec. 3.
“The translator will need to remain silent until either an expensive engineering study to move back to the water tower is completed or an alternative solution is found,” the station said in a request for special temporary authority to remain silent.
KDLO/96.9 (Watertown, SD) is operating at reduced power after a failure in its transmission system on Nov. 18. KDLO normally transmits with 100kW/479m from the KDLO-TV tower but is temporarily using 2.5kW/94m from another site while it awaits an inspection by a tower crew. KDLO is owned by Alpha Media and carries a Country format.
WXVM/104.1 (Merrill-Wausau, WI) is transmitting at 1.2kW instead of its licensed 8.3kW after a partial antenna failure. The station says it is operating at reduced power from its licensed site until repairs can be made. WXVM is part of WRVM, Incorporated’s Christian network.1.2kW ERP, down from 8.3kW
