Weekly Log: DTV Channel Changes in Several Cities

Posted on November 29, 2024November 29, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Following the end of Scripps News as a broadcast network, Hubbard’s WDIO/10.6 (Duluth) switched to Ion Mystery and their KAAL/6.5 (Austin-Rochester) switched to Ion. Rabbitears.info reports that Scripps’ KPXM/41.6 (St. Cloud-Minneapolis) is now carrying Court TV while their WPXE/55.6 (Kenosha-Milwaukee) and WACY/32.5 (Appleton-Green Bay) now carry Laff. In most cases, the networks were already available on other channels in the market. Information on changes in other markets is not yet known.

Radiant Life Ministries/TCT’s KCWV (Duluth) has added MeTV Toons on channel 27.9, replacing infomercials.

Nexstar ABC affiliate KCAU/9.1 (Sioux City) announced that evening news anchor Sophie Erber has departed for a new job in Colorado.

Sinclair FOX affiliate WLUK/11.1 (Green Bay) announced that Jyll Everman will take over as host of the station’s lifestyle program, FOX 11 Living, next year. Amy Hanten is departing from the show in December.

CBC announced that CBW/990 (Winnipeg) may be off the air between 8:35 a.m and 6 p.m. from Monday, Dec. 2 to Wednesday, Dec. 4 for tower maintenance.

After a slower start this year, the number of confirmed Upper Midwest All-Christmas flips reached 41 by the Friday before Thanksgiving, which was six more than had flipped by that day in 2023 and the same as 2022. A few more changed over in the days before Thanksgiving followed by 23 flips on Thanksgiving (many in the evening) and 31 on Black Friday. More may join the list this long weekend and your reporter will continue to update the All-Christmas List in between servings of leftovers. (Several stations that typically oscillate between All-Christmas and their regular playlist before fully making the change in December are not yet listed.) As always, tips to jonellis@northpine.com are appreciated.
