Flinn Broadcasting’s KRQN/107.1 (Vinton-Cedar Rapids) is now carrying “Radio Pig,” a Classic Hits format that began at one of Flinn’s stations in Memphis.
KRQN had previously carried a Regional Mexican format as “El Gallo” (the rooster). It had been Cedar Rapids’ only Spanish-language format.
The “Radio Pig” playlist includes Light Rock hits from the 1960s to early 1990s from artists including The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Survivor, and Duran Duran.
The format first launched on Flinn’s WOWW/1430 (Germantown-Memphis), though the audio feed at RadioPig.com only included a legal ID for KRQN as of Saturday afternoon.
“Radio Pig” is a fitting slogan for a station in Iowa since hogs and pigs outnumber humans seven to one in the state.
KRQN had previously carried a different Classic Hits format before flipping to Contemporary Hits in 2011, then Conservative Talk in 2021, and “El Gallo” in 2022. The station had been programmed by Cumulus Media and Townsquare Media from 2006 to 2021; Flinn owns no other stations in Cedar Rapids.
“Radio Pig” competes with Classic Hits formats on NRG Media’s KOKZ/105.7 (Waterloo-Cedar Rapids), Sellers Broadcasting’s KMRY/1450 and K226BO/93.1 (Cedar Rapids), and iHeartMedia’s “Leo 1360” (KMJM Cedar Rapids).
