TV News Check reports that Scripps will eliminate 268 positions as it transitions its TV stations from traditional newscasts to a 24/7 streaming model. Specifics of how the change will impact over-the-air broadcasts were not immediately reported. Scripps stations include WTMJ-TV/4 (Milwaukee), WGBA/26 (Green Bay), and KMTV/3 (Omaha).
Morning anchor Devin Brooks and evening anchor Jon Diaz have departed Tegna ABC affiliate WQAD/8 (Moline-Quad Cities).
Anchor/reporter Maddie Augustine has departed Hearst ABC affiliate KETV/7 (Omaha).
The Radio Hall of Fame announced that Duke Wright, founder of Midwest Communications, will be inducted as a legend.
Inductees to the Country Radio Hall of Fame include Chris Carr, morning host at iHeart’s “K102” (KEEY St. Paul), and Marci Braun, Audacy brand manager overseeing “102.9 The Wolf” (KMNB Minneapolis).
Adding to the earlier report about programming changes following the move of the CBS affiliation in Bismarck, Forum’s new CBS-affiliated KBMY/17.2 is carrying “Forum News Network” at 10 p.m. The newscast originates at WDAY-TV (Fargo) and continues to air at 9 p.m. on other Forum stations. Meanwhile, the Bismarck Tribune posted a paywall-free article sorting out the new channel numbers for CBS and KX News.
