American Public Media Group has named Twin Cities media veteran Duchesne Drew the new president of Minnesota Public Radio.
Drew currently works for the Bush Foundation and was previously at the Star Tribune, where he rose from intern to managing editor. He will begin his new role at MPR on May 4.
“I’m delighted to be joining MPR,” Drew said in a news release. “Minnesotans are relying on MPR now more than ever. Our music and news services are proving their importance in people’s lives. I’m honored to lead these talented teams and I look forward to helping us serve even more Minnesotans.”
Drew succeeds Tim Roesler, who has been serving as interim president since last fall. Roesler will continue as APMG’s chief business development officer.
MPR News reports Drew is married to host Angela Davis but will not directly oversee her.
MPR is a subsidiary of APMG, a nonprofit organization, and operates three regional networks carrying News, Classical, and Adult Alternative formats.
