Six new FM signals are now on the air, or soon will be, as deadlines loom for FM translators granted three years ago during the FCC’s AM Revitalization effort.
Subarctic Media filed an FCC application for a license to cover for K254DT/98.7 (Mankato), which was granted to relay News/Talk/Classic Hits outlet KTOE/1420. An application of this type specifies that a station is constructed and ready to go on the air, but this application did not specify whether K254DT is currently transmitting. KTOE has also been rebroadcast on K274AL/102.7 (Mankato) for the past decade, but K274AL’s license is not permanently linked to KTOE. Both translators broadcast from the same tower with 250 Watts.
K222DF/92.3 (Dilworth, MN-Fargo) signed on relaying the Conservative Talk format of Bakken Beacon Media’s WZFG/1100 (Dilworth). The translator was granted during the FCC’s AM Revitalization effort. It transmits with 250 Watts from a Forum Communications-owned tower in Fargo that’s also used by K226CL/93.1, which relays WDAY/970 and is also run by Bakken Beacon.
Leighton Enterprises informed the FCC that new FM translators K248DH/97.5 (East Grand Forks) and K277DN/103.3 (Grand Forks) are both transmitting under program test authority. K248DH relays KGFK/1590 while K277DN relays KNOX/1310, with both new translators serving a rural area southeast of the city. Both stations are also relayed on other FM translators in Grand Forks.
Seehafer Broadcasting applied for a license to cover for W254DL/98.7 (Marshfield), which will relay WDLB/1450. The filing did not say whether W254DL is currently on the air.
W250CV/97.9 (Green Bay) has been testing after tower crews were on site last week and owner Mark Heller anticipates filing for a license to cover soon. W250CV will relay the True Oldies format of WGBW/1590 (Denmark-Green Bay). It transmits with 250 Watts from Scray’s Hill, south of Green Bay.
