The FCC has begun granting construction permits to the Upper Midwest winners of its recent auction. Newly-issued permits include:
Dunkerton, IA: Milwaukee-based Christian broadcaster VCY America was granted a CP for a new station on 103.9 using 6kW/100m (class A) from a site in Readlyn, rimshotting Waterloo.
Rockford, IA: VCY America was granted a CP for a new station on 92.9. It will use 6kW/68m (class A) from a site just north of Rockford, providing a rimshot/fringe signal to Mason City.
Houghton, MI: Houghton Community Broadcasting was granted a CP for a new station on 96.3 using 100kW/226m (class C1). The permittee owns three other radio stations in Houghton.
Bayard, NE: Flood Communications West was granted a CP forĀ a new station on 95.9, calling for a 250-Watt Class A station transmitting from a 40-foot tower (a height four meters below average terrain). The maximum facility for a Class A station is 6kW/100m. Flood Communications West is owned by Andrew Ruback and Michael Flood; it owns two stations in Sidney and is part of the ownership of Flood Communications Tri-Cities, which is buying stations in Kearney and Hastings.
In all cases, the permittees have three years to construct the new facilities.
