Heart of Wisconsin Media LLC, which owns one station in central Wisconsin, is buying two more.
An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates Heart of Wisconsin is buying WFHR/1320 (Wisconsin Rapids and WLJY/105.5 (Nekoosa-Wisconsin Rapids) from Seehafer Broadcasting for $260,000. The deal also includes future WFHR translator W248DE/97.5 (Wisconsin Rapids), which faces a June 8 construction deadline.
WLJY carries an Adult Contemporary format and WFHR carries News/Talk/Sports.
Heart of Wisconsin Media, owned by Marcus C. Jaeger, already owns WCWI/106.1 (Adams). WCWI’s protected coverage area does not overlap with the stations being purchased.
WFHR and WLJY are considered to be part of the Wausau-Stevens Point market for regulatory purposes but do not provide strong signals to Wausau, with WFHR rimshotting Stevens Point. Wisconsin Rapids is under the umbrella of many of the market’s stations and is also the community of license for WGLX/103.3. WFHR and WGLX were formerly co-owned but were split in 2006 when NRG Media sold WFHR to Seehafer.
Seehafer retains two stations in Marshfield and six in Manitowoc.
