Just over a year after leaving one pair of Milwaukee-area signals, Mike Crute’s Liberal Talk format has returned to the air on another pair of signals.
The lineup is now airing on WAUK/540 (Jackson-Milwaukee) and W266DR/101.1 (Waukesha). Crute tells Urban Milwaukee that he has a deal to buy the stations from Good Karma Broadcasting for $650,000; the deal has not yet appeared in the FCC database as of Monday evening.
The schedule includes Crute’s syndicated “Devil’s Advocates Radio Show” from 3-5 p.m. and Milwaukee radio veteran Earl Ingram Jr. from 5 to 6, as well as the Madison-based “Dueling Tangents with Luke & Bryan” from 2 to 3 and syndicated talkers including Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann earlier in the day.
The lineup also airs on Good Karma’s WTTN/1580 (Columbus-Madison) and W224EG/92.7 (Madison).
WAUK had previously carried ESPN Radio, which is also heard in most dayparts on Good Karma’s WKTI/94.5 (Milwaukee). It was ESPN’s primary home prior to WKTI’s switch to Sports in 2018.
W266DR launched last summer covering Waukesha and part of the southeastern Milwaukee metro. WAUK’s 400-Watt signal blankets southeastern Wisconsin day and night.
Crute tells Urban Milwaukee that WAUK/W266DR, which use the slogan “The ‘Sha,” will have a studio in Waukesha and local news and programming for the suburb.
Crute’s format had previously aired on WRRD/1510 (Waukesha) and W269DL/101.7 (Milwaukee), which Crute’s New WRRD LLC sold to Good Karma in 2020. While the WRRD sale closed in 2021, RadioInsight notes that a separate deal for Crute to buy WTTN/W224EG did not close, with a notice of non-consummation filed in May 2021.
