The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, which owns two stations in the Houghton market, is buying two more in the Marquette market.
An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates KBIC will pay $400,000 to buy Taconite Broadcasting’s WMQT/107.7 (Ishpeming-Marquette), WZAM/970 (Ishpeming-Marquette), W227CJ/93.3 (Marquette), and W295CX/106.9 (Marquette).
WMQT, known as “Q107,” carries a Adult Contemporary format while WZAM runs ESPN Radio and is relayed on W295CX. They are one of several radio groups in the Marquette market.
KBIC also owns “Rockin’ Eagle” WGLI/98.7 (Hancock-Houghton) and “Eagle Country” WCUP/105.7 (L’Anse).
