Northern Wisconsin independent public radio station WOJB/89.9 (Reserve) has added the BBC’s “Newshour” to its afternoon lineup.
The addition of “Newshour” at 5 p.m. began March 8, according to a post on WOJB’s Facebook page. Program listings indicate the station had previously aired a repeat of “Democracy Now” in the timeslot; the show continues its 9 a.m. airing.
WOJB, a 100kW station owned by the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, focuses on community programming. It also airs NPR’s “Morning Edition” from 6 to 8 a.m., Native Voice One’s “Native America Calling” at noon, and the CBC’s “As It Happens” at 6 p.m.
The addition comes amid heightened interest in coverage of the war in Ukraine and just a few weeks after Wisconsin Public Radio’s Ideas Network extended the BBC into another hour of morning drive.
