Weekly Log: Retirements of Madison Met, Des Moines Radio Anchor

Posted on January 3, 2025January 2, 2025 by Jon Ellis

Meteorologist Bob Lindmeier has retired from Allen Media ABC affiliate WKOW/27.1 (Madison) after 44 years with the station. Lindmeier had moved to a part-time schedule four years ago and announced in early December that it was time to fully retire.

Simon Conway of iHeartMedia’s WHO/1040 (Des Moines) reports that longtime news anchor Sue Danielson has retired after more than 35 years at the station.

The Rochester Post-Bulletin interviewed Tom Overlie about his decision to step down from the anchor chair after nearly a quarter century at Gray NBC affiliate KTTC/10.1 (Rochester).

Gray Media announced that it has renewed all of its 25 ABC affiliations until the end of 2028. Gray ABC affiliates in the Upper Midwest include KCRG/9.1 (Cedar Rapids) and WBAY/2.1 (Green Bay).

Viewers on AVS Forum report that KMSP (Minneapolis) is no longer airing TheGrioTV, which had run on channel 9.5.

Less than two months after announcing that their games would be produced and distributed by the MLB in 2025, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that games will instead remain on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin (the network formerly known as Bally Sports Wisconsin and FOX Sports Wisconsin).

KBRB reports that its owner, Graig Kinzie, is part of a local group that bought the Ainsworth Star-Herald to avert the newspaper from being shut down. The full group of newspaper investors includes Kirk and Chelsey Peterson, Graig and Stephanie Kinzie, and Clint and Katie Painter. Graig Kinzie owns KBRB/1400 (Ainsworth) and KBRB-FM/92.7 (Ainsworth) through Sandhills Broadcasting LLC.

Gray NBC affiliate WMTV/15.1 (Madison) reported on a local man who has a tattoo of the station’s chief meteorologist, Charlie Shortino.
