Civic Media has announced changes to its Wisconsin News/Talk lineup that will see two hosts leave the daily schedule starting April 23. Earl Ingram and Dom Salvia will no longer be doing shows, with Ingram moving to special reports and guest appearances on other shows. Pat Kreitlow‘s existing morning show will be expanded to three hours followed by Jane Matenaer and Greg Bach from 9 to 11, the syndicated Thom Hartmann from 11 to 2, Todd Allbaugh from 2 to 4, and Maggie Daun from 4 to 6. Hartmann’s show had previously only aired live on WMDX (Columbus-Madison), which will also continue to air the local “John and Gordy in the Morning” from 6 to 8 followed by Stephanie Miller’s syndicated show from 8 to 11. Elsewhere, “Maino and the Mayor” will continue on WGBW (Denmark-Green Bay). In Wausau, Chad Holmes will no longer be hosting the 8 to 10 a.m. shift on WXCO but will contribute to the statewide morning show.
Good Karma News/Talker WTMJ/620 (Milwaukee) has announced lineup changes that emphasize more news and political talk. Kristin Brey, who previously co-hosted from 1 to 3 p.m., has joined Steve Scaffidi for a political discussion show called “Point Taken” from 10 a.m. to Noon. Scaffidi had previously hosted an hour at 9, which is now part of an expanded “Wisconsin’s Morning News,” while “Wisconsin’s Midday News” has moved to a new 12 to 3 p.m. timeslot. It had already been reported here that Brey’s former co-host, Brian Noonan, is no longer with WTMJ and 10 a.m. business show “The Upswing” with Jeff Sherman has moved to weekends.
Gray Media has named Mark Little the new general manager at Gray NBC affiliate KWQC/6.1 (Davenport). Little, currently the news director at Gray’s station in Memphis, will start his new job May 1.
Meteorologist Alexis Staniec is moving from Nexstar CBS affiliate WFRV/5.1 (Green Bay) to Weigel CBS affiliate WDJT/58.1 (Milwaukee).
Skyler Stamps announced he is joining Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13.1 (Des Moines) as a multimedia journalist.
Audacy named Molly Cruz the brand manager of “99.1 The Mix” (WMYX-FM Milwaukee) and “103.7 Kiss FM” (WXSS Wauwatosa-Milwaukee), while continuing duties as brand manager of “B96” (WBBM-FM Chicago). She previously served as assistant brand manager for the Milwaukee stations from 2015 to 2023.
Longtime Twin Cities broadcaster Tom Ambrose has died at 79. His career included work at WCCO-TV/4, KQRS-FM/92.5, WWTC/1280, WLTE/102.9, KUOM/770, and the Minnesota News Network. Ambrose was remembered in a segment on Minnesota Public Radio.
More than three years after its sale to the owners of “PBS North,” “The North 103.3” (WDSE-FM Duluth) is moving out of its longtime home at the University of Minnesota Duluth and into new studio space in the WDSE-TV building, which also on the UMD campus. A Facebook post indicates the station is bringing its entire music library to the new location:
Iowa Public Radio’s broadcast outages page reports that Classical station KICG/91.7 (Perry) will be off the air or at reduced power during daytime hours until April 23 for tower work.
TV winners of Sevareid Awards for best newscast during the recent Midwest Journalism Conference include Hearst’s WISN-TV/12.1 (Milwaukee), Forum’s WDAY-TV/6.1 (Fargo), Gray’s WMTV/15.1 (Madison), Gray’s KBJR/6.1 (Superior-Duluth), Gray’s KEYC/12.1 (Mankato), the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Minnesota State University – Moorhead. Radio winners for best newscast include Minnesota Public Radio, Audacy’s WCCO/830 (Minneapolis), NRG Media’s KLIN/1400 (Lincoln), Riverfront Broadcasting’s KCCR/1240 (Pierre), and Nedved Media’s KORN/1490 (Mitchell).
The Minnesota Star Tribune stopped publishing daily TV listings after the Wednesday, April 2 edition. “We made this decision to save staff editing time and newsprint that we can devote to other stories,” the paper writes in a note in its Help Center that encourages readers to visit another website for TV listings. The move comes 17 years after the Strib stopped publishing its once-beloved “TV Week” section.
