Minnesota Public Radio and the Star Tribune report that cuts are underway at Twin Cities PBS (KTCA/KTCI) and American Public Media Group, the parent of MPR, following Congressional approval of a bill to claw back funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The number of cuts at Twin Cities PBS was not specified, while APMG is reportedly cutting 5 to 8 percent of staff at all of its operations. Meanwhile, Iowa Public Radio said in an email to supporters following the vote that it will not fill open positions, among other cuts.
Anchor Mackenzie Davis has been promoted to evening co-anchor at Gray NBC affiliate WMTV/15 (Madison).
Anchor/reporter Cyreia Sandlin announced her departure from Hearst ABC affiliate WISN-TV/12 (Milwaukee).
Allen Media NBC affiliate KWWL/7 (Waterloo) has renamed its newsroom to honor former longtime anchor Ron Steele.
