Weekly Log: Paul Douglas Retires from Radio

Posted on August 2, 2024August 1, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Longtime Twin Cities meteorologist Paul Douglas is stepping away from daily forecasting, retiring from his job with WCCO/830. Douglas first came to the Twin Cities on WTCN-TV (later KARE 11) and later worked at WCCO-TV/4. Douglas is not fully retired, though, since he will continue to head his company Praedictix and, the Star Tribune notes, will continue to write a column for the newspaper.

Anchor Suzanne Spencer has announced her departure from FOX O&O WITI/6 (Milwaukee).

Meteorologist Sean Macaday has departed Allen Media CBS affiliate KIMT/3 (Mason City-Rochester).

WTMJ-TV/4 (Milwaukee) reports that Sean O’Flaherty, the station’s longtime news operations manager, has died of cancer at 74. O’Flaherty joined the station in 1971 and worked as a photographer, editor, and manager before taking a management role.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association reports the passing of Wayne H. Smith, who worked in sales, engineering, and management, including at WJMT/WMZK (Merrill).

The Mankato Free Press profiled “Shuffle Function,” the morning show on KMSU/89.7.
