Weekly Log: Madison Morning Show Change, Wausau Met Changing Jobs

Posted on May 15, 2026May 14, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Jon Miskowski, former PBS Wisconsin Director of Television, has died following a long battle with cancer. The network says Miskowski officially retired May 1 and died May 9 at home surrounded by family. Miskowski first started as a volunteer at WHA-TV in 1984 and became Membership Director at WGBY-TV in Springfield, Mass., in 1989. He returned to WHA-TV to work as Development Director in 1992 and became Director of Television in 2015.

RadioInsight reports that Memphis-based Chris Michaels is now hosting mornings on Audacy Classic Hits outlet WOLX-FM/94.9 (Baraboo-Madison). Michaels had previously hosted afternoons on “Mix 105.1” (WMHX Waunakee-Madison); he swapped airshifts with Brett Andrews as Andrews adds duties as brand manager for Audacy’s “99.1 The Mix” (WMYX-FM Milwaukee) while also retaining that role at WMHX and the afternoon shift at WMYX. Andrews had taken over the WOLX morning shift in September 2025 replacing Jesse Garon, who had been named morning host following the 2024 death of Jim McGaw.

Meteorologist Mark Holley announced that he is leaving his on-air role at Gray CBS affiliate WSAW/7 (Wausau) to move to a new role as media executive. His last day on the air will be May 29.

Salem Media announced that it’s being acquired by The Christian Community Foundation, Inc., doing business as WaterStone, a move that will take the company private. Salem’s only Upper Midwest group is in the Twin Cities, where it owns KKMS/980 (Richfield-Minneapolis), WWTC/1280 (Minneapolis), KYCR/1440 (Golden Valley-Minneapolis), and KDIZ/1570 (Golden Valley-Minneapolis). KKMS carries Christian teaching and preaching while KYCR carries Business Talk and WWTC and KDIZ carry Conservative Talk.
