Prairie Winds Adds More Stations in NE South Dakota/Western Minn.

Posted on June 25, 2019 by Jon Ellis

Prairie Winds Broadcasting is buying a group of radio stations in northeastern South Dakota and western Minnesota from Armada Media-Watertown, reuniting them with former Armada stations that Prairie Winds now owns in the region.

Stations included in the new $1.5 million deal are:

  • Classic Hits station KMSD/1510 (Milbank, SD), its FM translator K252FB/98.3, and the construction permit for another KMSD translator, K236CU/95.1.
  • “Jack FM” outlet KJKQ/99.5 (Sisseton, SD)
  • “Pheasant Country 103” (KBWS-FM/102.9 Sisseton, SD)
  • Country-formatted KDIO/1350 (Ortonville, MN) and the construction permit for associated FM translator K233DL/94.5
  • Classic Rocker “Power 106” (KPHR/106.3 Ortonville, MN-Watertown, SD)

Prairie Winds, owned by investors from Aberdeen, Watertown, and Sioux Falls, bought six stations in Aberdeen and Redfield from Prairie Winds five years ago.

Armada and its principals also own 21 other radio stations in Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, and operate four others in Michigan.
