Christian Broadcaster Expands to Southern Minnesota

Posted on April 8, 2020 by Jon Ellis

A group that owns several Christian radio stations in central and north-central Minnesota is buying a small southern Minnesota license.

Minnesota Christian Broadcasters Inc. is buying KFNK/89.5 (Franklin) from South Central Oklahoma Christian Broadcasting for $21,000, according to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC.

KFNK and other stations owned by the seller went silent earlier this year, saying theycould not receive enough donations to stay on the air. The station is licensed for 100 Watts, the minimum for a full-power station, serving a small area east of Redwood Falls.

MCBI owns KCFB/91.5 (St. Cloud), KTIG/102.7 (Pequot Lakes-Brainerd), and WZFJ/104.3 (Breezy Point-Brainerd). KCFB and KTIG simulcast a traditional Christian teaching and preaching format as “The Word” while WZFJ carries Contemporary Christian as “The Pulse.”
