Several New FM Signals On Air in Dakotas, Nebraska

Posted on December 7, 2020 by Jon Ellis

Two new FM signals are on the air along the North Dakota-South Dakota line, and a new FM signal is also on the air in Nebraska’s Tri-Cities.

K285HH/104.9 (Lemmon, SD) relays KBJM/1400 (Lemmon), while K294DG/106.7 (Hettinger, ND) relays KNDC/1490 (Hettinger). The stations are owned by Michael J. Schweitzer and offer full-service formats to a rural area with few other strong signals.

KBJM carries a mix of Classic Hits and Country, while KNDC carries Country, Classic Rock, and Oldies. They compete with Hirange Media’s “102.3 The Range” (KZRN Hettinger.)

Elsewhere, Platte River Radio signed on K221GM/92.1 (Kearney), relaying “ESPN Tri-Cities” from KXPN/1460 (Kearney).

The format is also simulcast on KICS/1550 (Hastings); KICS also has a construction permit for FM translator K224FK/92.7.

All of the new FM signals were granted as part of the FCC’s AM revitalization effort and use 250 Watts.
