K-Love Getting Another Twin Cities Signal

Posted on November 8, 2021May 7, 2024 by Jon Ellis

The Educational Media Foundation is switching another one of its Twin Cities metro area signals to the “K-Love” Contemporary Christian network.

K249ED/97.7 had carried EMF’s “Air1” Worship network, which began airing on KMWA/96.3 (Edina-Minneapolis) earlier this year. As of Sunday K249ED and its originating station, iHeartMedia’s KTCZ-HD2, we’re running an announcement advising listeners to tune to 96.3 and that “K-Love” would be coming to 97.7.

Transmitting from the KQQL tower in Nowthen with 250 Watts at 303m above average terrain, K249ED provides a strong signal to the northern suburbs and also stops on car radio scans in many parts of the metro.

EMF’s K221ES/92.1, serving the northwest metro, also switched from “Air-1” to “K-Love” earlier this year. Both K221ES and K249ED are licensed to Albertville.

“K-Love” is also heard on K260BA/99.9 (Coon Rapids) transmitting from downtown Minneapolis, KMKL/90.3 (North Branch) in the far northeast metro, K288GR/105.5 (Bayport) in the east metro, and the HD3 signal of iHeart’s KFXN-FM/100.3.

K249ED’s change could clear the way for KTCZ-HD2 to carry other programming unless it reverts to “Air1” once K249ED switches to “K-Love.”
