Weekly Log: Several New Faces on Twin Cities TV

Posted on April 17, 2026April 16, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Hubbard Radio’s “myTalk 107.1” (KTMY Coon Rapids-Minneapolis) named Colleen Lindstrom the new co-host of Jason Matheson‘s morning show. Lindstrom was part of the original crew that launched the station’s format in 2002. Holly Roberts will continue as morning producer and has also been named KTMY’s assistant program director.

Hubbard ABC affiliate KSTP-TV/5 (St. Paul) has hired traffic anchor Amanda DeVoe and news reporter Pilar Pedraza.

Nexstar/Tegna NBC affiliate KARE/11 (Minneapolis) has hired Kevin Holmes as 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor.

NPR and other outlets report that Nexstar is planning to drop news service agreements with the major broadcast networks (the stations will continue to carry network programming). The plan was briefly mentioned in the FCC decision (page 33) approving Nexstar’s purchase of Tegna. Besides network reports and video feeds being dropped from local newscasts, the change also means Nexstar stations could also lose longstanding partnerships with non-Nexstar stations for state and regional news coverage.

TV winners of MBJA Eric Sevareid Awards for best newscast include Hearst’s WISN-TV/12 (Milwaukee), Forum’s WDAY-TV/6 (Fargo), Hubbard’s WDIO/10 (Duluth), and the University of South Dakota’s “Coyote News.” Radio winners for best newscast include Minnesota Public Radio, NRG Media’s KLIN/1400 (Lincoln), Riverfront Broadcasting’s KCCR/1240 (Pierre), and the University of Nebraska’s KRNU/90.3 (Lincoln).
